The Rona Sailing Project (formerly Rona Trust - London Sailing Project) is one of the oldest Sail Training organisations in the UK, established for almost 50 years. In that time, we have taken over 30,000 young people to sea and given them the experience of a lifetime, greater self-confidence and a new perspective on the world. Apart from a dedicated full-time team of just five, all of the Project's 400 Skippers, Mates, Watch Officers and Watch Leaders are volunteers. Their active support enables us to touch the lives of a large and disparate group of people, all of whom, in their own way, significantly benefit from an experience at sea.
Sail Training Organisation of the Year 2010 Every year Sail Training International looks at organisations throughout the world and makes two awards for excellence in innovation and best practice in sail training for young people. One is for large vessels and one for small (i.e. yachts). The Rona Sailing Project is very proud to announce that it has been named Sail Training Organisation of the Year for small vessels for 2010. The Trustees of the RSP are very aware that this award would not have been won without the dedication of its hard-working volunteers. |
